Sparks Resident Arrested For Performing Cosmetic Surgery at Home - FoxReno.com

SPARKS-- Sparks Police Department have arrested a suspect after and investigation revealed he was performing medical procedures at his residence without a License.On 8-8-11, the Victim in this case reported an Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses case with the Sparks Police Department. The report alleged that in the beginning of June 2011, the suspect, Mr. Orozco-Abundis convinced the Victim to allow him to conduct a comsetic surgery on the Victim's wife. The Victim agreed and paid over 2,000 dollars to the suspect. A short time later, Mr. Orozco-Abundis borrowed money from the Victim.Mr. Orozco-Abundis did not perform surgery on the Victim's wife but he did perform a cosmetic surgery on the Victim in the Victim's home on 6-22-11. The procedure was accepted as partial repayment for the medical deposit and loan.At the beginning of August, the victim had not received the rest of the money owed to him and he contacted local agencies regarding filing reports for the lost money and for the suspect performing surgeries with out proper licensing.The case for the lost money was investigated by the Sparks Police Department and the investigation into the medical procedures was reported to the Attorney General's office.Prior to the Sparks Police Department making contact with the suspect, the Victim received payment for his monetary loss and agreed to accept more money from the suspect. This effectively closed the case for Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses which occurred on 8-29-11.Last week authorities at the Attorney General's Office, the Washoe County District Attorney's Office and the Sparks Police Department agreed that SPD would investigate the case and the District Attorney's Office would take jurisdiction on the case.Yesterday, detectives from the Sparks Police Department contacted the suspect and arrested him for Practicing Medicine w/o a License which is a Felony crime. The suspect admitted to completing medical procedures on family and friends.His residence was searched and no additional evidence was located.
