There's more to appearing 20 years younger than a swift application of anti-aging cream and a bit of cosmetic surgery.
Witness Bobbie Gee, a Laguna Niguel, Calif., businesswoman who, at 73, says putting on olive oil and taking off toxic emotions rids a face and a person of appearing years older.
Gee, who has regular checkups with her dermatologist, says she relies on God's power to keep her youthful.
She is the author of "Anti-Aging God's Way" and can be reached at bobbiegee.com. And she spells out her program, including foods, facials and creams she uses, at anti-aginggodsway.com.
Question: You say you are at peace. What does that mean?
Answer: After much investigation, the life philosophy I chose for myself is to lead a guilt-free life to the best of my ability.
The latest so-called anti-aging solutions are external, not internal. Toxic emotions are what do the most to a person's well-being and face. Bitterness is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die. You have to get rid of toxic emotions first and then you can start to concentrate on the outside.
I happen to have good genes. I never smoked or lay in the sun. I protected my skin.
And my family thinks very young. My father died at 95 and my parents were married 75 years. Genes have a lot to do with it. That and making the right decisions in our lives.
Q: Let's talk about the olive oil.
A: My trick for my face is olive oil. I use it to remove makeup. When you are born, your body is covered with film, with fatty acid. It protects you from the embryonic fluid.
I use extra-virgin olive oil to take off my makeup with a baby wipe. I wash with olive oil soap. And when I am finished, I put squalane on my skin. It is a natural moisturizer. All these products are available at the drugstore.
Start getting weekly facials if you have brown spots on your face and watch them disappear. The outer layer of skin is dead and the one that wrinkles so badly, so constantly get that old skin off. Get a facial and listen to what the professional says.
Q: What about plastic or cosmetic surgery?
A: I really believe if a woman could gain more self control by getting the bumps off her nose ? or whatever ? there is nothing wrong with it. However, something is causing you to have inferiority feelings and the surgery doesn't get rid of that cause.
Q: You built a career as a public speaker?
A: For more than 30 years. Now I have decided to help people find peace, happiness, more confidence.
Society is not thrilled at hearing the word "God" mixed with appearance. But I got into churches as an outreach program. Following my program can help anyone at any age.
Q: And the bubble bath?
A: Ah, my Vitabath. That is part of my personal, daily routine for improving not only my appearance but also my attitude. I take a one-hour bath every day. If you have mobility problems, put a chair in the shower and use body wash as a bubble bath.
Q: Faith is central to your appearance, you say?
A: It's all attitude. Attitude ? the way you feel about yourself ? contributes so much to your appearance. I've been very happily married for 54 years. That shows on my face.
In 1984, I set 25 goals for the rest of my lifetime and I've achieved all but one of them.
My final goal is to make enough money off my book to build a nondenominational prayer chapel. Part of my faith is that something good is coming from all of this.
