Pennino named chief of surgery at health system - Rochester Business Journal

Ralph Pennino M.D. has been named Rochester General Health System chief of surgery, CEO Mark Clement said Thursday.

Pennino is a plastic and hand surgeon with the Plastic Surgery Group of Rochester who has long practiced at Rochester General Hospital. He was selected for the new post after a national search, said Richard Gangemi, senior vice president of medical and academic affairs.

?A number of highly qualified and interested candidates were considered for the position, Dr. Pennino quickly emerged as the consensus choice,? Gangemi said in a statement.

Pennino had served as associate chief of surgery since 2001 and as interim chief of surgery since the health system?s previous chief of surgery, the retirement of Ralph Doerr M.D. in January.���
