In a new interview cited by The Telegraph, the Oscar winner is again making a stand against the current trend to always look young and as wrinkle-free as possible, regardless whether you?re in your 30s or double that age.
This time, she?s not alone in this, she says. Several other actresses have joined the ?cause,? including the gorgeous Rachel Weisz and her good friend Emma Thompson. These are the actresses who, for the time being, will officially hold down the fort on plastic surgery and impossible beauty standards in the industry.
?The 35-year-old star of Titanic says she has formed what she describes as the ?British Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League? with her Oscar-winning friends Emma Thompson and Rachel Weisz,? The Telegraph writes.
?I will never give in. It goes against my morals, the way that my parents brought me up and what I consider to be natural beauty,? Kate says.
She?s also an actress and she can?t afford to sacrifice her expressivity for the sake of an absurd ideal. ?I am an actress, I don?t want to freeze the expression of my face,? she explains.
Her friends agree: giving in to impossible demands and, in the process, losing something that is essential to their trade is ridiculous and they have no intention of pleasing anyone that asks them to do it.
?I?m not fiddling about with myself. We?re in this awful youth-driven thing now where everybody needs to look 30 at 60,? Thomson says.
?People who look too perfect don?t look sexy or particularly beautiful,? Weisz also states.
As it happens, just recently, another Oscar winner joined the ?league,? as we also informed you earlier today: Gwyneth Paltrow said plastic surgery and Botox are ?gimmicks? she would never use to look younger.
