CASH VS. PLASTIC
A woman who wona contest at an Atlantic City casino designed to pay for $25,000 worth of plastic surgery has said, Thanks, but no thanks.
The Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort gave the winner of its Nip and Tuck Sweepstakes the option to take cash instead ofgoing under theknife. And take the cash she did.
Casino spokesman Brian Cahill says the woman opted not to make her name public. I didn?t see her age divulged, either.
The prize was a choice amonga varietyof procedures, including breast enlargement, a facelift, tummy tuck and liposuction. You can see the prices here.
The contest drew some criticism.
Editorial writers for NorthJersey.com, the website for the newspaper, The Record, called the promotion ?a new low?, writing, ?it makes sense in a sick and twisted way that anyone with a buck can win plastic surgery.?
They wrote:
?We understand that Atlantic City casinos face stiff competition from their peers in Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut. The recession hasn?t been kind, either ? second-quarter profits for 2011 were down more than 8 percent from the same period last year. Convincing gamblers to part with their dwindling dollars has likely become a monumental task where once it was easy as pie. But the sobering economic situation in no way softens the awful reality that the Trump Taj Mahal is willing to appeal to customers? most personal insecurities to boost revenue. That?s a new low.?
